Copyright Registration
Protect your original creative works under the Copyright Act, 1957.
Overview
Copyright is a legal right that grants the creator of an original work exclusive rights to its use and distribution. In India, copyright protection is governed by the Copyright Act, 1957. It covers literary, dramatic, musical, artistic works, cinematograph films, and sound recordings.
Why Register?
While copyright protection exists automatically from the moment a work is created, registration serves as prima facie evidence in a court of law. It makes it significantly easier to enforce your rights against infringement and unauthorized use.
Protection Period
Generally, for literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works, the duration of copyright is the lifetime of the author plus 60 years from the beginning of the calendar year next following the year in which the author dies.
